Halfway through the week and apart from the usual mix of logistics we have already completed a Luxembourg to Dusseldorf server relocation project and this morning are back out in Amsterdam in The Netherlands on our regular round robin to London Heathrow distributing computer networking equipment.

Monday our handling and security procedures were put to the test for a high profile company who required a 3 rack server move from Luxembourg to Dusseldorf. Immediate feedback from our client's US customer was that the move was handled professionally and with military precision. 

All equipment was de racked ready for labelling as per the rack elevation plan / build list and was then securely packed in our anti static lined bespoke server flight cases for the short trip to Dusseldorf.

With all this bad weather about it is hard to get away from all the social media posts and 24 hour news of what has been going on. It's starting to thaw out in London now so I thought I might add my two penn'orth in and share a couple of the most important things that keeps us going as a transport / logistics provider.

It's not rocket science!

1. Get yourself some winter tyres. It doesn't cost you any more money in the long run. 
2. Invest in some snow chains. They are easy to put on once you have the knack.

If your vehicle can't move you can't make a delivery.

Of course it doesn't matter what tyres you have because if you drive like an idiot they aren't probably going to make much of a difference any way. 

So my next 2 top tips are:

1. Slow the heck down. 
2. Don't sit up the arse of the vehicle in front.

Of course we all need to be conscientious, make a living and not let anyone down otherwise the country would grind to a halt, but needless to say if it is that bad and could be a danger to life and a non essential journey that could be done at a later date then keep off the road and don't add to the problems!

Sometimes though you do just get caught up in it and have to improvise and get on with it. The pictures below are from an IT transportation and installation job back in 2006 to Copenhagen Denmark when we weren't all like "snowflakes". Needless to say we had most of the right tools to get the job done!

​Our new Renault Master tail lift arrived the other week fully kitted out and also equipped with VB adjustable air ride suspension, a further commitment to our IT relocation and installation services. Coupled with our range of bespoke shock mount rack flight cases this ensures our client's kit arrives as it should.

Nothing like kicking the week off with an IT relocation job. These images taken from today. Pick up a Juniper MX 960 in one of our custom made 24u shock mount flight case racks at our client's London office then over to Interxion DC off Brick Lane, East London and and re rack using some of our bespoke hydraulic lifting equipment.

​Bishopsgate and Threadneedle Street London are logistically challenging, one with no legal parking and the other on a red route. Not for the faint hearted and only to be attempted on a weekend. The weather was on our side too as van loads of equipment were lined along the side of the road waiting to be moved in through the front entrance.

Early September saw us relocate several Juniper routers and MRV Lambda drivers from our client's London office across 3 sites in Manchester. Everything was packed in our bespoke flight cases and re racked using our specialist lifting equipment.

For this job we rolled out one of our new tool box / road trunk flight cases making life easier on site and increasing productivity. Manufactured and supplied by 5 Star Cases with our distinctive corporate colours of an orange lid line this adds to our ever increasing stock of equipment to ensure we have the right tools to do the job.

A short video clip of the end result of 2 days up in the "Northern Powerhouse". Numerous chassis de / re racked by Secure Transportation Ltd on time and within budget, fully insured and most importantly a happy client.

These HP blade servers went in around April 2015 and are now due for relocation as part of a major network change for our Manchester based client along with another 20 or so other chassis's of multiple brands.

This phase is part of an ongoing project and spanned across 2 days. With a few anomalies along the way we de racked the various kit from 3 PODS and relocated them to their new data hall within the same building. ​

​Although some of the kit individually weighed in excess of 150 kg the task was made effortless by using various pieces of our lifting equipment to overcome the obstacles along the way. 

Below 3 HP blade servers and a Dell de racked and ready for re racking on day 1 along with some Cisco series 6500 chassis, Juniper MX 240's and a rack of Genband.

The final day saw the de / re rack of a further 4 HP blade servers and various other 1-2u devices.
